Improvement Company Acquires Salem, Ohio Heat-Treating
Facility
The
Metal Improvement Company, a wholly owned subsidiary
of the Curtiss-Wright Corporation, announced today that
it has acquired the commercial heat-treating business
of privately-held Electric Furnace Company in Salem,
Ohio.

acquisition enhances our position as one of the world's
leading metal treatment service providers," said Martin
Benante, Chairman and CEO of Curtiss-Wright. "This addition
fits into our strategic plan to expand our network of
heat-treating facilities in North America through acquisition.
Electric Furnace has an excellent reputation for high-quality
work and has built up a customer base that includes
major manufacturers of automotive equipment, lawn and
garden equipment, and small machinery. The Salem operation
is a profitable business that should add to our earnings
immediately."
Metal Improvement Company, headquartered in Paramus,
NJ, is a recognized worldwide leader in providing outsourced
shot-peening, shot-peen forming and heat treating. These
metal treatment services are provided to the aerospace,
defense, automotive, petrochemical, agricultural equipment,
power generation, medical and metalworking industries.
